My New Year’s Resolution

announcement

Goodbye 2015 – hello 2016.

As I reflect, I was happy to see that Confessions from a Geek Mind recorded some record stat numbers as my audience and blog views increased.

But there is one flaw in my 2015 stats – I posted less reviews than I did in 2014.  I went from posting a review a week to now and again.  There’s a perfectly good reason for that.

Sometimes life can be hard and 2015 was pretty much a year where I went through major challenges in my life.  In the summer my father passed away leaving a void in my life.  And just when you thought life couldn’t get any worse and wants to kick you further in the unmentionables, my mother fell ill towards the tail end of 2015.  It’s a slow recovery for her but at least it’s a step in the right direction.

It makes you realise how precious life can be and understandably I’ve had to take time off in between reviews to re-focus on the real world.  Things I’ve wanted to write had to take a back step for far more concerning matters and I’m not going to lie, I’ve had moments where I wanted to quit blogging.  My mind went through the usual doubts – what is the point?  Who reads this anyway? I was so busy I didn’t even have time to celebrate my blog’s 2nd birthday…

But then I realised how much of a mistake that would be.

Writing for this blog has been the best thing I’ve done.  To single handedly write and manage the blog and all its social media pages can be challenging but rewarding at the same time.

So as the clock chimed in for the new year, whilst it’s easy to say I’m going on a diet or something, my resolution was simple and clear – don’t stop and never give up on what you love doing.

I guess what I’m trying to say is if you (like me) had a difficult 2015, rest assured, you’re not alone.  It’s tough and hard but everybody is a survivor and you have awesome and supportive friends.  Remember the positives.  For me I passed my driving test first time, celebrated my love of Star Wars at Secret Cinema and turned 30 in brilliant style…by going go karting!

I’m still here and still around to give continued support to other awesome blogs and I’ll do my best to be as frequent with my reviews as much as possible.

All that’s left is to wish all my readers a happy, prosperous, proud, awesome, loving, exciting and a healthy new year.

Make 2016 a good one and thank you for the continued support.

God bless x

GM.

  1. I’m sorry about your dad & hearing what a tough year it’s been for you. I’m glad you’re still around – I’ve wanted to quit blogging at times but it’s a fun hobby. I figure it’s something that’ll always be here when you’re in the mood & have the time for it. I hope 2016 will be a better year. 🙂
