“Supermarine” – Hans Zimmer

Film: Dunkirk

If there was ever a track that summarises the nervous suspense of Dunkirk, then Hans Zimmer is the master of that in ‘Supermarine’.

Like most of Nolan’s films, time is a great dictator of the action.  In Dunkirk we experience three different levels of time running out to survive through land, sea and air.  Watching how all three timelines synchronise together is a masterpiece in direction.  Using elements of the Shepard tone, Hans Zimmer’s ‘Supermarine’ wonderfully captured the increasing tension and mood of war.  Dunkirk is an audio experience as well as visual and Hans Zimmer creates one of the best film scores of 2017.
